The Weinstein Company, Red Bull, and Columbia Pictures have teamed up to bring you the Django Unchained Emerging Artist Contest. The Grand Prize is a free trip to Comic-Con, where you’ll get to attend the official Django Unchained panel and meet Quentin Tarantino himself. What you need to do to enter is create a a piece of media, such as a poster or short film, that uses footage from the Django Unchained trailer or one of Quentin Tarantino’s favorite spaghetti westerns. You can read the details about entering the contest here.
For those of us who don’t intend to enter, the official contest page is still worth keeping an eye on. There’s already a short video from Quentin Tarantino posted on there (click “A Message from Quentin” on the front page to see it), and they’re promising to add more exclusive content from Tarantino and Django Unchained over the next few weeks. Also, beginning July 1st, fans will be able to vote on the best contest entries.
Perhaps the most juiciest bit of news from this contest is the message at the bottom of the page: “Come back to see the complete Django trailer and what’s [sic] been submitted on June 15.” Will this be the same teaser trailer that is scheduled to be shown before Prometheus, or will it be a new trailer entirely? I’m looking forward to finding out!
